100th Birthday
A birthday celebration was held at East Tallassee Baptist Church on Sunday, June 26, in honor of Mrs. Rose Daniel, who turned 100 years old on June 22. Along with her church, 37 of Mrs. Daniel’s family members were in attendance.
The festivities began at the conclusion of the morning worship service, where Mayor Pro-tem Charles Blalock read a proclamation from Mayor George McCain proclaiming June 22nd “Rose Daniel Day” in her honor. The entire congregation was then invited to a luncheon in celebration of Mrs. Daniel’s 100 years and her long and faithful service to East Tallassee Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rose Daniel has been a member of East Tallassee Baptist Church for over fifty years, and faithfully taught Sunday School there until she was 99 years old. Pastor Kevin Webb shared Hebrews 13:7, which says, “Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the Word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” Rose Daniel has given many years of her life to speaking the Word of God to others, and modeling Christian faith. Many of her former students were in attendance on Sunday as a testimony to her effect on their lives.
As one church member put it, “For me, it was an honor to prepare and celebrate with Mrs. Rose on her 100th birthday. Since I have known Mrs. Rose, my life goal is to grow up and be just like her. If I live to be 100 years old, I will only be half the person she has become.” |
