October event returns with original name

By Michael Butler

Trade Day has been a long-running tradition in Tallassee. It was a staple from 1989-2016.

The event returned in 2021 after a five-year break but was rebranded as Fall Fest. The Tallassee Chamber of Commerce has coordinated the crowd pleaser for more than three decades. This year, it is back and with its familiar title.

"I'm going to call it Trade Day again this year," said Chamber director Jerry Cunningham. "When downtown is redone, we'd still like to take it downtown."

Trade Day/Fall Fest has moved from downtown to the grounds of City Hall since construction began in the business district.

Dixie Dynamite at last year's event

"It's always the third Saturday," Cunningham added, sticking with that tradition for this year's date. "Last year, we had a hayride that was successful for the children. We always try to find activities for the children."

In addition will be the usual array of vendors and fun contests.

"Those types of things have gone really well. Last year, we had a Halloween dress-up contest"

The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Oct. 21. Those interested in being a vendor may contact Cunningham at 334-283-5151.
