Survey to study quality of life

By Leigh Anne Butler

Now is the time for your voice to be heard. Recreation has been an on-going topic of concern in Tallassee for years and now residents can take part in a survey to help develop future projects in Tallassee.

The Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) started Quality of Life projects in 2020 to help promote tourism. The first phase of the project included two recreation developments, 17 Springs in Millbrook and Hohenburg Field in Wetumpka.

ECEDA is now planning for Phase II of its Quality of Life projects for Tallassee, Eclectic, and Holtville. ECEDA is seeking input from residents as they evaluate the needs in these communities. Residents can participate in a brief, nine question survey that should take about five minutes or less to complete.

“We value the opinions of our residents and recognize that each community has different needs and wants,” said Lisa Van Wagner, Executive Director for ECEDA. “This is an opportunity for them to be heard as we move forward in this very exciting time for Elmore County. We thank everyone in advance for their participation.”

ECEDA is partnering with the Elmore County Commission, Tallassee City Schools, the Elmore County Board of Education, the City of Tallassee and the Town of Eclectic to evaluate the needs in these communities.

“Quality of life and recreation are so important to the recruitment and retention of families to the City of Tallassee,” Sarah Hill, mayor of the City of Tallassee stated. “We thank the Elmore County Commission, Elmore County Economic Development Authority and partners for recognizing this need – we look forward to the results of this survey!”

Superintendent of Tallassee City Schools, Brock Nolin adds, “I’m supportive and appreciative the county commission’s consideration for helping fund a project for our community.”
