By Michael Butler

A Tallassee man is dead after being shot at his residence on Washington Street in East Tallassee last week. The victim, 28-year-old Bo Sanders, was discovered by Tallassee police on Wednesday evening, Sept. 20.

Authorities received a call at 5:57 p.m. after gunshots were heard in the area near Funtastic Fort. Medical aid was administered until Haynes Ambulance arrived. Sanders succumbed to his injuries.

After interviewing witnesses, a manhunt ensued. The subject of interest, 31-year-old Robdarius Smith of Tuskegee, turned himself in in Butler County two days later.

Smith was transported to Tallapoosa County Jail. "The Tallassee Police Department would like to thank all law enforcement agencies for their relentless effort and collaboration in the apprehension of Smith," the TPD put out in a press release. "The Tallassee Police Department would also like to thank CrimeStoppers and everyone who provided information about Smith's whereabouts. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
