Volleyball team set for season
By Michael Butler
Tallassee volleyball coach Katie Hayley is eyeing the area title in 2017. "Our goal is to win the area and make it to Super Regionals. That's always a goal."
Some might call this season a rebuilding year. The Tigers are replacing seven seniors.
"That's a whole squad on a volleyball team," Hayley noted. "We have a lot of new faces. We have three returners on varsity. It's a very talented group. We have a lot of gamers."
Tallasee has 32 players in the program from the middle school level to varsity. Hayley recently took the entire unit to Auburn for a match.
"Auburn pulled out the victory," she said. "My girls got to meet some of the players which was a great experience. They got their pictures made with them. I hope our girls learned a lot. It was a fun night. You always need that team bonding outside of practice. We incorporate that into the program to try promote relationship building and unity.
"We have a great program being built with a lot of great athletes. I couldn't ask for a better 32."
