Swim team set for state

The Tallassee High School swim team had an impressive weekend at the AHSAA Central Sectional in Birmingham. The girls team finished second. The boys were third overall.

Members of the girls team are: Macey Stewart, Valerie Johnson, Allison Johnson, Ivy Davis and Lilly Haynes. The boys consist of: Camden Mask, Chase Webster, Corbin Grover and Adam Aldridge. All nine will participate at the AHSAA state meet at Auburn Aquatics Center on Dec. 3 and 4.

Both of the female relay teams advanced to the state tournament. The 200 medley relay team of Macey Stewart, Valerie Johnson, Ivy Davis and Allison Johnson won the event in Class 1A-5A. The 400 freestyle relay team finished third in the tournament. Ivy Davis, Lilly Haynes, Allison Johnson and Macey Stewart make up this group. Individual qualifiers are: Macey Stewart and Valerie Johnson. Stewart won the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Johnson finished 3rd in the 100 breaststroke.        

Both boys relay teams advanced to the state tournament. The 200 medley relay consisting of Corbin Grover, Camden Mask, Chase Webster and Adam Aldridge finished second at the swim meet in Class 1A-5A. The same swimmers who make up the 400 freestyle relay team swam a qualifying time at the meet. Individual qualifiers are: Camden Mask and Chase Webster. Mask finished second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 100 breaststroke. Webster qualified for the 50 free finishing third at the meet.
