Tallassee will return to Class 4A competition beginning next fall for the AHSAA's 2024-2026 athletic cycle.

It will be the Tigers' first time in 4A since the 2016-2018 cycle. That two-year stint is Tallassee's only time in 4A over the past decade.

Tallassee's average daily enrollment dropped to 369 from 401 two years ago. That makes Tallassee the eighth largest 4A. They had been the second smallest 5A.

The Tigers will be in Region 3 for football with Booker T. Washington, Bullock County, Cleburne County, Handley, Munford, Saint James and Talladega.

Longtime region/area foe and rival Elmore County will remain in 5A. Neighboring Reeltown will also stay in its existing classification, 2A.

Tallassee will have three openings on its schedule for non-region opponents. The program is replacing Mike Battles Jr., who was the head coach and athletic director for the past 12 years.

The first flag football team at THS will take the field next year and play in Class 1A-5A/Region 3. Opponents will include: Booker T. Washington, Lafayette, Loachapoka and Valley.
