Chilton County pulls away in second half

Tallassee hoped to follow its first win of the season with another in a return to J.E. "Hot" O'Brien Stadium. Chilton County had something to say about that. The visitors won 28-6 as the Tigers fell to 1-6.
Tallassee scored 50 points at Marbury the week before but was unable to cash in on drives into Chilton County territory. The THS defense kept the game close early with a 7-0 halftime deficit.
Three third-quarter touchdowns turned the contest into a one-sided affair in the second half. Chilton County's Donald Jackson accounted for two TDs and had 213 yards on 13 carries.
The Tigers avoided the shutout with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Trent Morris to Brodie Ellis on the game's final play. Morris was 9-of-18 with 96 yards passing.
"I thought we did a good job on defense early on. Our kids got tired at the end." said coach Mike Battles. "They're a very talented bunch. We got better. Our kids have not quit."
After the game, during handshakes, a scuffle broke out and coaches had to intervene.
"There were things that could've been prevented had some measures been taken by some other people," Battles added. "It didn't but we got through it, so we'll move on to the next game."
The next game will be against Elmore County for homecoming at THS. Battles is 10-1 in homecoming games at Tallassee. His teams have also won seven straight over Elmore County including last year's 26-20 win in Eclectic.
