Rec director's position open again

By Michael Butler

The City of Tallassee is advertising an opening for the position of Parks and Recreation executive director. Megan Miller stepped down after taking over the position last year.

Miller was promoted from her position as office manager when John Goodman returned to Tallassee City Schools after it was announced that he would be heading up the THS baseball program again.

There have been three directors since 2019. Tammy Merrett preceded Goodman, succeeding Rick Golden, who served as director for 12 years. Golden took a position with the Pike Road Fire Department. Merrett took a job with the Reeltown school system.

Duties of the position include; handling registration and schedules for programs, collecting and reporting program fees, oversight of grounds and facilites.

Also noted in the job description is that candidates should have a background in parks and recreation programming and have strong budgetary skills with a willingness to work non-standard hours.

Candidates should fill out applications at Tallassee City Hall during regular business hours.
