A truck carrying over 100 cows overturned near the Tallassee exit of I-85 on Friday morning. 19 cows perished. Some were hit by motorists while wandering along the highway.
Agriculture officials, Macon County Sheriff's Department authorities, as well as the Macon County Volunteer Fire Departments aided state troopers at the scene.
The driver of the cattle truck was uninjured.
