Spring Show time here again

The Tallassee High School Music Department will be performing its annual Spring Show on Sunday, May 7 and Monday, May 8.

The performances are in the old gym at THS, starting at 6 p.m. both nights.

“There will be something to please everyone,” said Michael Bird, one of the music teachers at Tallassee High School. “We have everything from Broadway to hip-hop, gospel to rock n’ roll, and country to classical.”

The tickets are being sold on GoFan.

“If you’ve been to a ball game, you are familiar with GoFan,” Mr. Bird said, “so just visit the website and search for Tallassee High School events. You’ll see the Spring Show as one of the events for this week.

“We have outfitted the old gym into a performance space and it’s really amazing. Jordan Cunningham came in and installed lights, lasers, fog machines - you name it. Audiences won’t believe they are in the old gym when they are watching the show.”

Bird added that there are over 200 students involved in the production, out of a student population of fewer than 500 students.

“We have 109 young ladies and 94 young men performing Sunday and Monday. I don’t know of any other music program around here with this many kids participating. Some are there for the fine arts credit, but many are there to sing and dance their hearts out. What I’ve found is once we all get in there, even the students who may have been on the fence, or even what I call the ABC’s (anti-Bird-club) about performing find that they have a sense of pride in the whole operation when it gets going and a crowd is there to see and hear them.”

Tickets for the chair-back seats on the floor are $10. General admission is $7. All proceeds fund the Tallassee Music Department. For any comments or questions, please call the music office at 334-283-3689.
