Last year's McCraney-Cottle Arts Council season was scratched due to COVID-19. Plans are to return to normal for 2021-22 with a full schedule of prorgams promoting the arts in Tallassee, just as MCAC has done for the past 50 years.

The opener is this week. A "Mt. Vernon Gospel Homecoming" will geature Southern Gospel recording artist Mark Lanier on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Tallassee.

Local artists will also perform during the show including; Mack Daugherty, Lisa McCain and James Bush.

Also this fall, the Auburn University Chamber Choir will be at the First United Methodist Church in Tallassee, another production of MCAC. The date has not yet been finalized.

The first event of 2022 is the ever popular Missoula Children's Theatre in January. This season's show will be a production of "Rumplestiltskin." The program will involve local area school-age kids with rehearsals beginning on Jan. 10 culminating with the performance on Jan. 15.

MCAC has also scheduled "A Night of Traditional Sacred Music" for March 10, 2022 at FUMC at 7 p.m. Local area artists; Nancy Hornsby, Lee Jackson, Kenneth Loomis, James Bush and Jerry Cunningham will present traditional favorites accompanied by pianist Kelley Hill.
