TSC resolves towing snafu

By Michael Butler

Tallassee's 14u Babe Ruth baseball all-stars were in Lake Jackson, Texas on gameday last Friday. While the players were preparing for the opener of the regional tournament as Team Alabama, the parents were getting news from the homefront.

At the Patton Plaza parking lot their cars were being towed. The location was the departure point on Wednesday night as the group boarded a bus for the 11-hour trip.

Tractor Supply Company will occupy the former Winn Dixie building at the shopping center. The contractor for the project had the vehicles towed because they were encroaching on an area where a fence was to be placed.

Word quickly traveled the great distance as one by one, each car was towed to Tallassee Automotive. The word traveled just as quickly to Tractor Supply Company's corporate headquarters. The company in cooperation with its contractor remedied the situation and released the following statement:

"Hello everyone, we apologize for any confusion and frustrations this incident has caused. We were unaware of the steps taken by the contractor on site. Upon investigating the event, we have learned that the vehicles have been moved to a secure location, the owners have all been notified, and the storage fee has been taken care of. If any of the parents have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us by contacting our Customer Solutions Team at 1-877-718-6750 or by sending us a private Facebook message. We look forward to becoming a part of the Tallassee family and we wish the tournament team good luck in their games."

The Tallassee squad lost to Hot Springs, Ark. 4-3 and McComb, Miss. 16-3.
