Primary over, runoff to come

Super Tuesday might be in the books, but there is still some unfinished business. A few of the of the marquee races will require runoffs.

In the Republican race for U.S. Senate, Tommy Tuberville and Jeff Sessions will be in a runoff. Tuberville received 235,461 votes (32%) to Sessions 227,492 (31%). There will also be a runoff for U.S. House Congressional District 2 on the Republican ticket between Jeff Coleman and Barry Moore. Coleman led with 38,751 (38%) to Moore's 20,792 (21%).

In the Elmore County Commission District 2 race, Mack Daugherty edged Brad Davis with 2,042 votes (53%) to Davis' 1,844 (47%). Davis won the Tallassee box at Tallaweka Baptist Church with 558-221 vote advantage.

President Donald Trump picked up 96% of the statewide vote for the Republican nomination. In Tallassee he received 1,033 of the 1,314 votes cast. Joe Biden, on the Democratic side, got 154 votes.

The runoff election will be on March 31.
