THS duo qualify for Team Alabama

Staff Report

Two Tallassee wrestlers have qualified for Team Alabama and will be competing at the 16U National Championships this summer. Land Bell and Mason Nelson will wrestle in Illinois and North Dakota this summer.

Bell was the 152-pound freestyle champion and Nelson, the 113-pound Greco-Roman winner, at the Huntingdon College qualifier on May 13.

"Both of these young men will travel to Love Park, Ill. to wrestle in the 16U National Duals in June," Tallassee head wrestling coach John Mask said. "In July they will travel to Fargo, ND for the 2023 USA Wrestling Junior and 16U National Championships."

Thomas Patterson and Ethan Jones also took part at the Huntingdon tournament.

"I am so proud of these men for attending this tournament," Mask added. "We have had one wrestler qualify to wrestle in Fargo in Josh Epperson. We have had several wrestlers who have been working really hard in the off-season with their club team. I am so proud of them for setting very lofty goals.

"We are so proud of this great accomplishment and we are pulling for these young men to do well. It is always a great accomplishment when our student athletes qualify for these prestigious events during the off-season."
