Sectionals next for wrestlers

The Tallassee wrestling team will begin the post-season at the Class 5A Super Section Tournament at Montgomery's Garrett Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 11. Weighins begin at 9:30 a.m.

"We have been preparing and getting our mindset right for this tournament," THS head coach John Mask said. "This will be a 16-man bracketed tournament per weight class. The top four wrestlers at each weight class will advance to the state championship in Huntsville."

Tallassee finished its regular season with a 32-1 duals record. That follows last season's 29-1 record. The Tigers were the Class 5A runner-up in the state duals format tournament falling in the championship to Jasper in Birmingham.

"We are excited and looking forward to watching each one of these young men compete and try to earn a spot in the state championship," said Mask. "We will now work hard this week preparing for each wrestler and really focusing on our game plan moving forward."
