Softball Tigers split games against county rivals

By Michael Butler

It was a rare, light week for the Tallassee softball team last week. The Tigers played just two games - both on the road.

THS beat Stanhope Elmore 15-0 in three innings on Tuesday. They lost to Wetumpka 6-2 in eight innings on Thursday.

Alexis Walls pitched all three shutout innings against the Mustangs with two strikeouts and no walks.

Brooke Royster was 3-for-3 with a homerun, driving in two runs.

Royster added another dinger on Thursday at Wetumpka. Avary Lumpkin had two hits including a double and RBI. Chloe Davidson pitched six innings of shutout ball but took the loss allowing a grand slam in the Indians' final at-bat.

"We lost a heartbreaker to Wetumpka," THS head coach Pat Love said. "We have to find ways to win close games like that."

The Tigers (4-3) host Prattville Christian on Tuesday. They travel for the three-day Wetumpka Tournament beginning play vs. Spanish Fort on Thursday. There are 32 teams in the field.

"It's going to be a big week for us - a lot of softball to be played," Love added. "The girls have been working hard."
