8 swimmers qualify for state

Staff Report

The Tallassee High School swim team has eight qualifier for the upcoming state meet in Huntsville.

"This year has been very challenging for the swim team with the AHSAA sectionals being canceled and time standards were moved to make it more difficult to qualify," head coach John Mask said. "This group of swimmers maintained a positive attitude and continued to work hard to meet the new times required."

Swimmers that qualified are; Macey Stewart, Ivy Davis, Hope Moyers, Madeline Weldon, Camden Mask, Corbin Grover, Chase Webster and Canyon Moyers.

Stewart will compete in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Mask will compete in the 100 breaststroke.

The men’s 200 medley relay team consists of Grover, Mask, Webster and Moyers.

The women’s 400 free relay team is made up of Moyers, Weldon, Davis and Stewart.

"We are so proud of these young men and women. The swim team continues to grow and improve each season."

The state competition will be on Dec. 4 and 5.
