Softball team improves to 7-1

By Michael Butler

Win streaks are nothing new to the Tallassee softball program. Last year, the Tigers had an 11-game win streak, plus three more that exceeded five games. After an opening day one-run defeat to Prattville Christian, Tallassee is at it again. They have won seven in a row.

Last week's scheduled game vs. Central Phenix City was rained out. It will be made up on Wednesday, March 4.

The Tigers beat Benjamin Russell 15-3 in five innings on Thursday, Feb. 27. The girls belted out 13 hits as a team. Belle Haynes led the charge with three hits including a first-inning homer. She added a double, a single and drove in five runs.

Lexi Love and Jordan Walters each had two hits. Sinclair Cole, Avary Lumpkin, Brooke Royster, Chloe Davidson and Ella Thrash had one hit each.

Walters picked up the win with two strikeouts and only two hits allowed.

The Tigers (7-1) play Elmore County (9-2) in Eclectic on Tuesday, March 3 with junior varsity and varsity games starting at 4:30 p.m.
