Softball Tigers take win streak to 6

Tallassee softball's 1-2 pitching combo of Jordan Walters and Sinclair Cole led the Tigers to a 3-0 record in the Central Tournament in Phenix City on Saturday.

Walters threw a perfect game and one-hitter in two starts. Cole went the distance in a nine-inning victory.

Walters upstaged her opening start of the day, a 6-1 THS win vs. Sparkman with the perfect gem in the nightcap against Beulah, 13-0. Cole struck out five in the extra inning 6-5 winner against Russellville.

At the plate for the tournament, Walters had two hits including a homerun and four RBIs. Ansleee Osborne hit a homer, a double and thee singles with four RBIs. Belle Haynes had three singles, a double and three RBIs. Lexi Love added two singles, a double and homerun with five runs driven in. Sally Shipman and Avary Lumpkin had two hits a piece. Brooke Royster, Ella Thrash, Hannah Martin and Chloe Davidson also had hits.

Tallassee (6-1) has now won six in a row after the season-opening one-run setback against Prattville Christian 4-3, a game where the Tigers lost Chloe Baynes to a season-ending injury. The sophomore was in the dugout Saturday to cheer on her teammates.

The Tigers return to Phenix City on Tuesday, Feb. 25 to play Central in junior varsity and varsity action statrting at 4:30 p.m.
