Sewell nominees announced

Four Tallassee High School seniors have been nominated for the annual Joe Sewell Memorial Award. Casey Baynes, Haylee Osborne, Theron Shipman and Madeline Taylor are the nominees.

The Joe Sewell Memorial Award recognizes outstanding high school senior athletes in Elmore County who have consistently represented the highest ideals of Christian leadership and emulate the character of Joe Sewell. Winners are awarded scholarships. 

The event will be on Tuesday, May 1 at 6:30 at the Wetumpka Civic Center. This year's keynote speaker will be retired Troy University head coach, Larry Blakeney.

Tallassee's ninth grade certificate winners are: Lexi Love, Jake Manning, Haleigh May and Ethan Stevenson.

Banquet tickets include dinner and admission to the awards ceremony and are available for purchase in advance at any branch of First Community Bank, or online at www.joesewellaward.org.
