The Tallassee varsity boys soccer team is off to a hot start. The Tigers have won their first three matches by a combined score of 27-0. After two mercy-rule wins over Lee and Greenville, the Tigers topped Jeff Davis 7-0 on Friday at J. E. "Hot" O'Brien Stadium.

Yuren Rodriguez led all scorers in the JD win with three goals. Rush Wright scored a goal and added two assists. Will Blocker had a goal and an assist. Grant McCraney and Johnathan Wright scored a goal apiece. Alec Carswell had two assists and Raul Alvarez had one.

For the season, Blocker and Rodriguez have scored seven goals each. Irvin Delfin has scored six through the first three games. Rush Wright leads the team in assists with four. Lukas Jolly and Trey Bosch have combined work on the shutouts from the goalkeeping side.

"We have a busy week ahead of us for sure," coach Matthew Tarpley said, "starting today (with) all three teams at Holtville."

The varsity boys will be without three starters for the Monday, Feb. 27 match due to bumps and bruises. Rodriguez, Delfin and McCraney are sitting this one out.

The Tigers' first area games will be on Tuesday at home vs. Valley with both varsity teams taking the field beginning at 5:30 with the girls game. The junior varsity team plays again on Wednesday vs. Auburn at 5:30 and Thursday vs. Stanhope Elmore at 5:30 - both in Tallassee.
