Hooks grabs spotlight

Former Reeltown quarterback Iverson Hooks has been named the AHSAA Spotlight Player of the Week. Hooks, now at Pike Road, led the Patriots to a 63-34 comeback win over Catholic on Thursday at the Kickoff Classic played at Montgomery's Cramton Bowl.

Hooks, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound junior, accounted for 410 total yards. He complete 16-of-25 passes for 296 yards and three TDs and rushed 15 times for 114 yards with two scores.

Pike Road trailed the Knights 34-22 in the third quarter, but put upf 41 unanswered points in the rout.

The two teams combined for 42 first downs and 986 total yards.

Also among the highlight performers this week were Gabe Bryant and Sedarico "Scooter" Brooks of Reeltown.

Brooks rushed for 158 yards and one TD on 18 carries in the Rebels 27-21 overtime win against Tallassee. Bryant averaged just under 40 yards per completion on 6-8 of passing for 163 yards with two touchdowns.
