Local players recognized on all-state teams

Reeltown's Eric Shaw highlights a list of honorees with the recent release of the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State high school football teams.

Shaw, a 6-5, 210 senior, was a Class 2A first-team choice as an athlete. He will be playing college football at South Carolina. Teammate Cameron Faison, a 5-10, 170 senior, was a second-team pick at running back. Honorable mention selections for the Rebels included fellow seniors; La'Brian Ponds (5-7, 200) on the offensive line, Tre Tre Hughley (5-8, 205) as an athlete and Connor Moore (5-7, 140) as a punter.

Tallassee's Tavarious "Truck" Griffin and Will Blocker were honorable mentions in 5A. Both are seniors and played multiple positions.

Griffin, 6-3, 220, was listed as an athlete. Blocker, 5-8, 200, was on the defensive line.
