Tallassee's Karter Simpson looks for running room in the sophomore game against Reeltown

Local leagues compete in title games

Tallassee's J. E. "Hot" O'Brien Stadium was the setting for the East Alabama Youth Football League Championships on Saturday.

Reeltown had two champions on the field, winning the sophomore and junior divisions. Dadeville was the freshmen champ. Montgomery took the senior crown. Tallassee was runner-up in the freshmen, sophomore and senior age groups.

In the opening game, Dadeville topped Tallassee in the freshmen final 19-12. The game went to overtime. Tallassee finished the season with a 7-1 record.

In the sophomore title game, Reeltown beat Tallassee 19-13 to cap a perfect season with an 8-0 mark. Tallassee finished 4-4. The junior Rebels (7-1) also won a championship with a 7-0 win over Montgomery.

Montgomery topped Tallassee 20-0 to win the senior league. Tallassee finished its season at 5-3.

Tallassee's cheerleaders won first place in all divisions. Reeltown was second in all age groups.

Cheer jump-off winners from Tallassee were Evan Coburn (Senior - 1st place), Mattie Fannin (Senior - 2nd place) and Brooklyn Segest (Junior - 3rd place). Reeltown's individual winners placers were; A'Mya White (Junior - 1st place), Mary Kate Peeples (Junior - 2nd place) and Asia Levett (Freshmen - 3rd place).
