Baseball team has ups and downs during Spring Break

The Tallassee High Tigers got some work in during Spring Break on the baseball diamond going 1-2.

Tallassee (7-8) played the Class 3A No. 8 team St. James on Tuesday at Southside Field winning 11-1 in six innings.

Jackson Rhodes (3-1) picked up the victory in a complete game performance. Rhodes struck out four and walked two scattering four hits. It was his third straight win on the mound. His ERA on the season is now 1.88.

The Tigers were swept in a doubleheader at Benjamin Russell on Wednesday, 15-8 and 10-0 (6). Mason Stewart, Cade Everson and Blair McGhar each had two hits in game one. The Tigers mustered just one hit in game two. Brody Goodman singled in the fifth to break up a no-hitter.

Tallassee has three scheduled games this week before jumping into area play next week.
