The Tallassee baseball team has lost five straight. The Tigers (2-10) went 0-3 last week with games vs. Saraland and Valley.

Saraland came to Southside sporting one of the top records in 6A baseball at 11-1. Through four innings, Tallassee's Jackson Rhodes held the Spartans in check in a 1-1 pitcher's duel.

Six errors later, it was an 11-1 five-inning rout in favor of the visitors. Rhodes allowed nine runs, five earned, striking out three while walking four. The Tigers accumulated four hits from Clayten Gough, Carter Davidson, Mason Stewart and Caden Griffith. Griffith drove in the lone Tallassee run.

On Saturday, Tallassee traveled to Valley for a doubleheader and faced one of the top college prospects in Jackson Sanders in game one. Sanders struck out seven in four innings and allowed one unearned run. Brady Mason gave up four runs in four innings for Tallassee in the 4-3 defeat. Stewart got two of the Tigers' three hits.

In game two, Valley won 11-1 in six innings. Mason had two hits. Drew Richardson took the loss with three innings of work. He allowed six runs, four earned.

Tallassee has two home contests this week (weather permitting) on Tuesday, March 15 vs. Elmore County and Thursday, March 17 vs. Sylacauga. The Tigers travel to Shelby County on Friday and will be in the Gulf Shores Classic next week for Spring Break.
