Tigers compete in FCA Tourney

The Tallassee High School baseball team traveled to Montgomery and Tuscaloosa last week. The Tigers went 1-3.

Tallassee (2-7) dropped the first game of the annual FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Baseball Tournament in Montgomery. Catholic beat the Tigers 7-4 at Paterson Field on Wednesday.

THS led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Knights put a crooked number on the board - scoring seven.

Brady Mason went 3 2/3 innings allowing five earned runs with three walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Ellis pitched 2 1/3 in relief, giving up two runs - one earned. He struck out three and walked two.

Tallassee had four total hits getting singles from Mason Stewart, Cash Gough, Drew Richardson and Mason.

On Thursday, Jackson Rhodes pitched all seven innings in a 3-1 victory over Alabama Christian at Riverwalk Stadium. Rhodes struck out seven and walked three in picking up the win. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Gough was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Stewart added a double. Mason, Richardson, Brody Goodman, Carter Davidson and Cade Everson also had hits.

On Saturday at Tuscaloosa County High School, the Tigers dropped both games - 10-4 vs. American Christian and 10-1 vs. Tuscaloosa County.

Richardson and Gough had homers in the doubleheader of games. Richardson led the Tigers with three hits including the homerun against ACA. Gough had two. Mason and Jacob Patterson also had hits. Tallassee had three hits against Tuscaloosa County; Gough's dinger and singles from Mason and Ellis.

Weather permitting, Tallassee has three games on the docket for the varsity squad this week. The Tigers are scheduled to play Stanhope Elmore in a JV/varsity twinbill on Tuesday afternoon, March 8 starting at 4:30 in Millbrook. On Thursday, March 10, the JV Tigers play host to Opelika at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity vs. Saraland. On Friday, March 11, the JV team is at home for a doubleheader against Beauregard. The varsity will play two on Saturday at Valley beginning at 11 a.m.
