Tigers face top prospects

There is an old adage, 'to get better you must face better competition.' The Tallassee baseball team has faced its fair share. The Tigers have now seen three future D-I pitchers over the past few weeks.

The Tigers were stymied by Russell County's Logan Austin on Feb. 28 in Seale. Austin is an Auburn commit. The following week on March 4 in Tallassee, Elmore County's Austin Downey, a Jacksonville State commitment, shut the Tigers down. Last week, THS faced Mississippi State commitment Pico Kohn.

Tallassee lost both games of the doubleheader vs. Chilton County in Clanton, 10-0 and 4-1. Kohn, a sophomore already set to pitch at MSU, struck out 13 in the game one win.

Tallassee (3-8) hosts Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday, March 12 at Southside Field. The Tigers' postponed game from Monday has been rescheduled for Wednesday vs. Lee in Montgomery at 4:30. Tallassee plays Park Crossing at home on Thursday at 4:00. An earlier rainout vs. LAMP will be made up on Friday, March 15 at 4:30.
