Tigers headed to Munford

By Michael Butler

Last week was an eventful one for the Tallassee Tigers baseball team. Kalvin Levett and Caleb Stewart belted the team's first two homers of the season. Tanner McNaughten hurled a no-hitter. Head coach Adam Clayton was recognized for winning his 200th game. And, the Tigers clinched their fourth straigh post-season berth.

Levett hit the first Tallassee dinger of the season in the Tiger's Monday sweep of Carver 20-5 and 12-2 both in five innings. Stewart's blast and McNaughten's no-no came in the area series with Elmore County. Tallassee won 2-of-3 in the Wednesday/Thursday set.

On Wednesday, the Tigers came back from a 3-0 deficit with a Casey Baynes' single scoring the tying and game-winning runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-3 win at Southside Field. Parker Neighbors went the distance to get the win. Prior to the game, Clayton was presented a plaque for picking up his 200th victory as a coach this season.

Tallassee dropped the first game on Thursday in Eclectic 13-3 but got the dominating performance from McNaughten for 10-0 win in the nightcap. On Friday, THS drubbed Central of Clay County 13-3.

Tuesday, Tallassee will host Marbury for the final regular season game and Senior Day. The game starts at 6:00.
