Baseball team wins Dadeville series

Tallassee had a trio of games that went to the wire in the first area action of the year vs. Dadeville. The Tigers won the series with wins in the first two games. Dadeville took the third game which is only applied for area tiebreakers.

In the opener on Thursday in Dadeville, fans got some free baseball after the two teams were knotted at 3-3 after seven innings.

Parker Neighbors did not figure into the decision after six innings of work with six strikeouts. Jake Burton got the win in relief. Collier Bonner picked up the save as Tallassee scored four in the top of the eighth to earn a 7-3 win.

Kalvin Levett went 3-for-4. Collier Bonner was 2-for-4 with a double.

In game two on Friday at Southside Field, Tallassee fell behind 3-0 early. The score held up until the bottom of the fifth inning when Zak Haynes and Casey Baynes scored after drawing walks to cut the Dadeville lead to 3-2.

Haynes singled in the Tigers' seventh followed by a Baynes walk. Burton's double drove in Haynes to tie the game. Caleb Stewart picked up the game-winning RBI scoring Baynes as THS claimed the series with a 4-3 victory.

Burton picked up his second win in as many days going the distance and striking out eight. He was 2-for-4 at the plate.

Dadeville won the third game with an 8-7 decision, but Tallassee claimed the series. The loss does not count in the area standings. Baynes, Derrick Hooks and Logan Pierce had hits for Tallassee.

Tallassee (8-5/2-0) is scheduled to play at Russell County in Seale on Tuesday, March 20 at 4:30. The Trinity game that was slated for Monday will be rescheduled.
