Baynes recognized by QB Club

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Sept. 15. Luke Hufham from Trinity Presbyterian School has been selected as the Private School Player of the Week and Casey Baynes from Tallassee High School has been selected as the Public School Player of the Week. Both players will be honored at the Club’s next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Mark Schlabach, college football writer for ESPN, will be the featured speaker.

Luke Hufham, a senior receiver/defensive back, had four catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns in Trinity’s 33-22 win over Catholic. On defense, Hufham had four tackles and one interception and two pass breakups.

Trinity, coached by Barry Loyal, is 2-2 on the season and travels to Alabama Christian Academy on Friday night.

Casey Baynes, a senior quarterback, passed for 218 yards and one touchdown in Tallassee’s 28-19 win over Childersburg. Baynes also rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he had an interception.

Tallassee, coached by Mike Battles, is 4-0 on the season and travels to Munford on Friday.  

Former Ole Miss head coach, Billy Brewer, was originally scheduled to speak on the 26th but had to cancel due to health problems. 

The Montgomery Quarterback Club meets at the Montgomery Country Club. The social hour begins at 5:15 followed by dinner at 6:15 and the program at 6:45.
