8U top four in World Series

The Tallassee 8U softball all-stars went 5-2 during the USA Softball World Series in Foley last week bringing home a fourth place finish.

The girls opened with wins in pool play on Thursday, June 30 over Coosa Valley Noccaula 10-3 and Sardis 9-8.

On Friday in double elimination play, Tallassee dropped its first game of the tournament to West Mobile 18-3. They worked their way through the losers' bracket with wins over Purple Diamonds 14-0, St. Martin Jackets 8-2 and Coosa Valley Noccaula 16-15, setting up a rematch with West Mobile. A 5-2 defeat ended their title hopes.

West Mobile reached the championship game falling to Corner 7-6.

The 8U squad finished the all-star season with two pre-area tournament titles and one area title.
