City agrees to contract for new website

By Michael Butler

The City of Tallassee has inked a deal with WebDevil Design and Computer Solutions to redesign its website. The local company is owned by Jonathan Haywood and was started in 2000.

"I got Jonathan to give me a bid," Tallassee mayor Johnny Hammock said. "I'm glad we're going to keep those dollars here."

Haywood is looking forward to the opportunity.

"I'm excited to create a sleek new design that works well on a desktop as well tablets, phones and other modern devices," Haywood said. "The new site will be profoundly more visually inviting, efficient, and user friendly."

Additions to the city's website will include live and archived videocasts of city council meetings and online payment of gas and water bills.

"We're getting into the 21st century now," said Hammock. "The city council gave me a line item for economic development of $25,000 and I haven't touched it. I've been so frustrated with the city website. The website needs to be upgraded. I think it will be a great economic tool. We can put a link on there to the Chamber of Commerce. We can have all the dates of things going on in town. I'm really looking forward to it."

The time frame before the changes will become active should three to five months.
