Subway robber captured

Tallassee police with assistance of U.S. Marshalls have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in the June 8 robbery at Tallassee Subway.

Authorities executed a warrant at Tallassee Villas Apartments. Ajanee Dijon Vinson, a 26-year-old black male from Phenix City, was found on site and taken into custody.

Vinson is accused of the robbery at gunpoint. He entered wearing a mask at the Hampton Place location on Gilmer Avenue and escaped with a small amount of cash.

"The TPD Investigative Division has worked tirelessly to identify, locate and apprehend this suspect," Tallassee Police Chief Matthew Higgins noted in a press release. "I would like to commend them on their outstanding work."

Vinson is being contained in Elmore County Jail on a charge of robbery first degree.
