229 to be closed for repairs

The Alabama Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that beginning Tuesday, April 11, at approximately 7 a.m., weather permitting, the CSX railroad crossing on Alabama Highway 229 outside of Tallassee will be closed for repairs. 

The closure was originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday of this week.

Due to the nature of the work, the crossing will be closed until work is complete.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day Wednesday, April 12. All work is weather related and could be delayed if needed. 

A signed detour will be in place while the crossing is closed, and motorists should plan accordingly for delays.
