McElroy releases book for Christmas season

By Michael Butler

Mike McElroy has spent more than 40 years in the ministry. He has been the minister at East Tallassee Church of Christ since 1998.

This weekend, McElroy will be signing copies of his new book, "Christmas Pilgrims - A Journey to See Jesus," at Cornerstone Coffee in Eclectic on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and at East Tallassee Church of Christ on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 2-4 p.m.

"It's a book I had an idea about eight years ago when "The Abiding Companion" came out," said McElroy. "The people of Tallassee were so kind and good. They bought into that book, so we had a real nice launch. I already had the rough sketch and it sat on a hard drive for years. This year, I was blessed with an opportunity to get busy and get done with it."

McElroy's first book, "The Abiding Companion," was written in a format to be read daily for a year.

"You had a chapter a day from the New Testament and a companion essay to go with it, 260 chapters in the New Testament. That would be a year of Monday through Friday."

The same type of concept is in McEloy's "Christmas Pilgrims" book.

"It's designed to start on Nov. 26 and read through to Christmas day," he said. "Frankly, during a really busy time, people need some focus. That's what this book is about. There are stories in the biblical narrative of Jesus' birth that leads up to the birth of the Savior.

"We want to bless a lot of people with this book. If God can use what I've scribbled down in this book, I'll be very grateful."

"Christmas Pilgrims - A Journey to See Jesus" is also available through Amazon.
