Hammock arrested in Baldwin County

Tallassee mayor Johnny Hammock is in police custody in Baldwin County Jail. Hammock was arrested on a domestic violence charge on Saturday, Jan. 15 at approximately 10 p.m. in Orange Beach.
The inmate record file lists the offense as Domestic Violence Strangulation. Section 13A-6-138 of the State of Alabama defines strangulation as, "Intentionally causing asphyxia by closure or compression of the blood vessels or air passages of the neck as a result of external pressure on the neck."
Domestic violence is a Class B felony, which carries a punishment of up to 20 years in prison with a minimum of two years and fines of up to $30,000. |
