Carnival visit put on hold

By Michael Butler

The announcement of no carnival this week is sad news, but it could still happen this summer.

Lisko Family Amusements said in early April that it would be bringing its carnival to Tallassee. The event was supposed to happen this week, April 26 - May 1, but it has now been canceled - or at least postponed.

The proposed location was to be property next to Walmart.

"The owner of the property decided last minute not to lease the property," Lisko's Ben Jordan said. "We called your Parks and Recreation. They didn't have a location for us to play in."

Jordan is open to rescheduling if another location is suitable.

"We still have an open date in June," he said. "We would like to come to Tallassee."

One location option for a future date is the property adjacent to the Tallassee Fire Department Training Center in the Industrial Park. Chief Eric Jones has been in communication with Jordan. The TFD has offered the location for previous spring carnivals.
