Bell Park Bell
The centerpiece of Tallassee's Bell Park is the "Long Bell" which was installed in 1976. The inscription by MC Shane & Co. of Baltimore reads "Tallassee Falls M'F'G Co. Ala." The bell replaced the original mill bell in 1886 and tolled at 4:30 a.m. to awaken workers. It remained in service until 1960. |
