Mr. Joe Lewis Davis, a life long resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 12:00noon at East Tallassee Church of Christ with Minister Michael McElroy officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery,  Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Nellie Ruth Hart Davis;  daughter, Sharon “Sherry” Parker (John);  grandsons, Jeremy Parker (Leigh) and Brandon Parker (Aften)  and  great grandsons, Blake Parker and Brady Parker.

He is preceded in death by his son, Mickey Davis;  his parents, James William and Audrey Beatrice Davis and two brothers and a sister.

Mr. Davis served in the United States Army from 1952 until 1956.  He attended Athens College and Faulkner University (Alabama Christian College).

Mr. Davis retired from Trenholm (Patterson) State Technical College.  He was a member of the East Tallassee Church of Christ for many years where he was very active in working with youth activities.

Mr. Davis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 10:30am until service time at East Tallassee Church of Christ.
