Celebration planned for retiring UPS driver

By Suzannah Solomon Wilson

If you have ever had a package delivered by UPS, then Mr. Bell (BB) Brown probably delivered it.

Over the 30 years he’s worked for UPS he has delivered thousands of packages to countless addresses to Tallassee and the surrounding area, always with a smile and a cheerful greeting.

Mr. Brown is retiring and his last day in Tallassee was Oct. 13.

To show how much he is loved and appreciated, some of his customers and friends in Tallassee are planning a surprise retirement celebration for him.

What can Brown do for you?

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 305 James Street in Tallassee (Suzannah’s Photography).  This will be an outdoor event but in case of inclement weather it will be held inside the studio with guests filtering in and out to greet BB and meet his wife.

Gifts are not necessary but if you would like to honor him with one, he likes to shop at Sam’s and various music shops in Montgomery and he likes to eat seafood and take his wife to dinner at Longhorn.  He sang in a gospel group for years, so music is one of his passions.  There will be a gift table set up along with a table for people to write down their favorite memories of him.

“We hope everyone will come out and wish him well in his future endeavors.  His wife has requested that people please wear a mask and instead on shaking hands and hugging, they will practice safe measures by doing fist bumps and giving air hugs.  There will be plenty of photo ops that day, and maybe we’ll even try a big group photo around 11 a.m.,” said Leigh Parker, one of the organizers.
