Whitaker "Top 100" pick

Staff Report

Tallassee High School's Reid Whitaker has been selected to the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Top 100 team. Whitaker will play on the Columbia Blue team in the all-star event on June 15 and 16 in Troy.

"I am blessed that I have been given this opportunity and the ability to play the game at this level," Whitaker said. "I'm ready to see what the future holds."

The 5-10/170 catcher will be a senior for the Tigers in 2017. He hit .289 this past season at THS with two homeruns and 25 RBIs.

"Reid has done an outstanding job for us since his freshman year," Tallassee head coach Adam Clayton said. "It is a huge honor to make the top 100 and be able to showcase himself in front of a lot of coaches in Troy. Hopefully it will open up some opportunities for him after his high school career is over."

There are six teams comprised of some of the state's best players that will participate in Troy. More details of the tournament is availabe on the ALABCA website.
