Track team competes at state, Crosby medals

Tallassee qualified 11 athletes for the 2021 Track and Field Championships in Gulf Shores last week. Nine boys and two girls competed at the state finals with one Tallassee star bringing back some hardware.

Senior Denzel Crosby placed third in the 300 meter hurdles to win a bronze medal. Overall, the boys team was 12th in the Class 5A standings. The girls were 22nd.

"We are proud of the senior class of 2021 for the determination they showed this track season," head coach Danny Worley said. "This has been a hard-working group of seniors who stuck together during a tough year for everyone. We are extremely grateful for the dedication to the track program by these seniors."

Tallassee's seniors are: Ajaida Griffin, Michael Moore, Alexis Love, KJ Love, Mason Bell, Haleigh May, Kalib Baker, Will Smith, Jalen Cobb, Ethan Stevenson, Denzel Crosby and Ja'Reece Edwards.

The 2021 Tigers' boys were runners-up out of 33 teams at the sectional meet in Beauregard on April 23 and 24. The girls finished fourth at sectionals.
