Tallassee rolled through the inaugural Purple and Gold Tournament with a perfect record on its way to the title, but there were some dramatics. Games were played at the East Tallassee Softball Complex in a round-robin format.

Tallassee beat Opelika (13-1), Saint James (6-0), Park Crossing (6-0), Beauregard (3-0), Reeltown (8-6) and Beauregard again (8-7) for the championship.

The Tigers overcame big deficits vs. Reeltown and Beauregard in the final two games.

Reeltown led Tallassee 5-0 behind ace Aryianna Stoneback. Stoneback pitched a perfect game against THS on Feb. 22. The Tigers rallied this time around to win 6-5 to advance to the championship game.

Belle Haynes had a homerun in the Tallassee win. Sinclair Cole earned the win on the mound. Lexi Love, Haylee Osborne and Sally Shipman also had hits.

In the title game against Beauregard, the Hornets jumped out to a 6-0 lead. The Tigers would find the comeback magic again on their way to an 8-7 victory.

The sister tandem of Haylee and Anslee Osborne each hit homeruns. Sinclair Cole and Jordan Walters added three hits a piece. Chloe Baynes had two hits. Casen Patterson also had a hit. Cole's single in the final at-bat served as the game-winner in walk-off fashion. Jordan Walters got the win.

"Winning the tournament was big for us. We grew a lot as a team over the weekend," head coach Pat Love said. "We got down in the game with Reeltown and the championship game with Beauregard. In both games we didn't panic, we justed started chipping away. We showed a lot of fight in both wins."

In the Tallassee victory over Opelika, Haynes had three hits. Walters and Haylee Osborne had two each. Cole hit a homer. Haylee Osborne picked up the win.

Walters pitched a shutout in the win against Saint James. Haylee and Ansleee Osborne, Madelyn Martin, Baynes, Walters, Shipman and Patterson had hits.

Cole got the victory on the mound vs. Park Crossing and added a hit at the plate. Haylee Osborne had three hits. Walter had two hits including a homerun. Shipman also had a hit for the Tigers.

Haylee Osborne picked up another win in the first matchup with Beauregard. Haynes hit a dinger. Baynes and Shipman had two hits each. Walters and Cole also added a hit a piece.

Tallassee (9-4) is scheduled to play at Beauregard on Tuesday, March 6 with junior varsity and varsity action. Games are slated to begin at 4:30.
