All-state honors for 3 Tiger players

The Alabama Sports Writers Association has released its all-state teams with three Tallassee softball players being recognized.
Senior catcher Lexi Love and junior outfielder Chloe Baynes are first-team picks on the Class 5A list. Junior infielder Belle Haynes is honorable mention.
An all-state squad was not chosen last year with the season ending prematurely, but the trio of THS players were picked in 2019. Baynes was a first-team choice that season. Haynes was a second-team pick. Love was honorable mention.
Love was also placed on last year's AHSAA All-Star South team roster although All-Star Sports Week was canceled due to COVID. Both Baynes and Haynes have been selected for this year's summer event.
This past season, Love batted .388 and led the team in homeruns (13) and RBIs (73). Baynes had a team-leading .561 batting average. She also was tops in hits (92), runs (74) and stolen bases (59). Haynes hit .399 in 2021 with 43 RBIs, 58 runs scored and 30 stolen bases. |
