Moyers state champ again

Staff Report

Another blue ribbon has the name Moyers with it. Crockett Moyers is back in the winner's circle after the state swim meet in Opelika on Saturday.

This is not the first time around for Moyers or a Moyers. Crockett's sister, Harmony, took two individual medals for first in the 8-and-under breast and butterfly last year.

This year it was Crockett's turn, who was first in 2017 in the 6-and-under boys freestyle. On Saturday, was tops in the 8-and-under butterfly. Harmony was third in the 9-10 breast stroke. She just missed placing in the fly coming in fourth.

"TTS swimmers did a great job at state," coach Donna Funderburk said. "Almost every swimmer and relay cut time from district to state. I am so proud of our swimmers. Our team was young, but we still brought home seven medals. Our swimmers do a great job competing with teams that swim year round. TTS starts practicing in May."

The Tallassee Tiger Sharks sent 43 swimmers to the state competition and were 16th overall out of 28 teams. In all, over 1,300 swimmers participated.
