Baynes receives national honor

Tallassee High School softball player Chloe Baynes has been recognized by MaxPreps.

The outfielder was selected to the all-freshmen team and named the Freshmen Player of the Year.

MaxPreps is a national website that highlights team stats, schedules and scores.

Baynes was one of only two players from Alabama selected to the freshmen squad. Hannah Price of Rogers was the other pick.

The all-state outfielder batted .669 with 117 hits, 90 runs and 82 stolen bases.
