Tigers blow out Dadeville

Tallassee dominated Dadeville Friday night in another battle of the Tigers. The 54-13 victory was the most complete performance of the year by the homestanding Tigers. Tallassee improves to 6-1 overall, 3-1 in region play. Dadeville falls to 3-4 overall, 1-3 in region play.

Kalvin Levett started the scoring with a 52 yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage. After a Dadeville touchdown tied the game at seven, Tallassee reeled off 34 unanswered points to take control of the game. During that run, Casey Baynes had scoring jaunts of eight, ten and 24 yards. He also threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Levett.  Markevious Matthews added a 30-yard fumble return for a touchdown on Dadeville’s first play from scrimmage in the second half.

Tallassee added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to complete the rout. Matthews broke free for an 86-yard touchdown run. Later, Jalen Johnson added a 98-yard touchdown run.

“We knew we had to score some points tonight. Our offensive line has played better each week. They played great tonight. The fact that we held Dadeville to 13 points with the firepower they have, shows our defense played outstanding,” said Coach Mike Battles.

Matthews finished the game with 241 yards rushing on 14 carries, including the 86-yard touchdown. He added a defensive score with the 30-yard fumble return as well. He earned the Spectrum Player of the Game honors with that performance.

Tallassee will travel to Holtville Friday night for the 32nd meeting with the Bulldogs. Tallassee leads the series 28-2-1. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. 1300 WTLS/106.5 FM will broadcast live with an airtime of 6:00. Audio will be simulcast on TuneIn Radio and Spectrum Cable TV Channel 97.
