Tigers stay unbeaten

Tallassee returned to J.E. ‘Hot’ O’Brien Stadium on Friday night to take on Childersburg in a region battle. The hometanding Tigers defeated the visiting Tigers 28-18. The victory improved Tallassee to 4-0 for the second year in a row. Tallassee is 2-0 in region play.

The first half was a defensive battle. Trent Cochran-Gill broke through with a 15-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Childersburg answered with a 9-yard touchdown pass. The first half ended with a 7-7 tie.

Tallassee came alive in the second half. A 65-yard touchdown pass from Casey Baynes to Kalvin Levett sparked the offense in the third quarter. Baynes added a one-yard touchdown run later in the quarter.  Markevious Matthews finished the scoring for Tallassee with a 25-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.

Levett caught five passes for 169 yards. He added one rushing attempt for nine yards to give him 178 total yards on the night. He had a big night on defense as well, defending the targeted receiver on many of Childersburg’s 35 pass attempts. His effort earned him Spectrum Player of the Game honors.

Tallassee is on the road again to take on Munford this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. 1300 WTLS/106.5 FM will broadcast live with an airtime of 6:00. Audio will be simulcast on TuneIn Radio and Spectrum Cable TV Channel 97. Video is available on Tallassee Times TV.
